History of the School

The Latymer School was founded in 1624 when a City merchant Edward Latymer bequeathed certain property to trustees on condition that they were to clothe and educate "eight poore boies of Edmonton". The trustees are under a duty to carry out the provisions of his will "unto the end of the world”. The Old Latymer on Church Street closed in 1909.

 100 Years on Haselbury Road

Friday 24 September 2010 commemorated the 100th anniversary of the move of The Latymer School to Haselbury Road.

Throughout 2010 we celebrated this important milestone. The first main event was the opening of the Seward Studio (the conversion of a gym into a state of the art multi-use performance and gallery space) on Tuesday 23rd February 2010. Others were concerts highlighting music from the Edwardian period, an original play written by the Head of Drama about the move in 1910, a whole school photograph and the production My Fair Lady in November.
