Gardenology Club

The “Gardenology” club is the school gardening club, which is run by Miss Meesaq (Teacher of Biology) with the help of 6th form pupils. The club runs every Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime in the Taylor Quad. Pupils of all ages participate in planting vegetables and fruits organically; composting; recycling and keeping a sustainable and environmentally friendly area. We are becoming more and more self-sufficient and pupils learn to collect seeds that can be used again in the subsequent growing season. We have also been very successful in using our own “Latymer made” compost which also encourages pupils to value the importance of decomposition and recycling. This year we will carry on evolving the garden further by planting fruit trees and using the planters for “House Gardenology Competition”. House members are encouraged to grow fruits and vegetables as the theme is “Edible Latymer. Further information about the theme can be found in the "Gardenology" notice board outside L43.
