In-Year Vacancies
In Year Admissions
Parents wishing their child to be put on a waiting list for a vacancy at the school should currently apply through their local authority. As from September 2013 parents can apply directly to Latymer. Tests for vacancies will be held once during the academic year – e.g. if a place arises in Years 7, 8, or 9, tests will take place in July, therefore all lists will close on the 1st June and the successful applicant will begin at Latymer in September. However, if the relevant waiting list is longer than 50, the place will not be filled so tests will not be held.
For those candidates who took the English and Maths entrance tests in year 6, the ranking list is maintained. The highest ranking child who would still like to be considered for the place is tested in July, along with all new applicants on the waiting list. The Governors base their decisions on the results of tests in English, Mathematics and French or German, giving priority to candidates who live within the postcode areas identified in 1 and then on the test scores.
If a vacancy were to arise in Year 10 we would only seek to fill the vacancy if we were able to offer subject compatibility. We would then follow the same procedures as for other in year vacancies, with additional testing in the Sciences. It is unlikely that we would seek to fill a Year 11 vacancy. Year 11 students are welcome to apply for Year 12.
